Welcome to Wastina, a diaspora-sponsored healthcare membership program designed to ensure quality, accessible, and compassionate healthcare for Ethiopians. Through Wastina, sponsors in the diaspora or in Ethiopia can provide their loved ones with essential healthcare services by purchasing affordable membership plans. These memberships help beneficiaries access trusted healthcare providers and reduce out-of-pocket healthcare expenses, ensuring peace of mind for families separated by distance.

Please note that Wastina is a healthcare membership program, similar to a club membership, and is not an insurance policy. Memberships are designed to facilitate easy access to primary healthcare, comprehensive check-ups, and continuous medical support for beneficiaries in Ethiopia. This disclosure outlines the terms of the services covered and any limitations. We encourage you to read through this document carefully to understand the full scope and limitations of Wastina’s services.

Membership Eligibility

Sponsor Requirements

• Wastina memberships can be purchased by sponsors who are either Ethiopian diaspora members or individuals residing in Ethiopia. Sponsors must have a registered account on the Wastina platform, accessible at www.mywastina.com.
• Sponsors are responsible for providing accurate details about themselves and the beneficiary, including valid contact information for notifications and communications.

Beneficiary Requirements

• Beneficiaries must be Ethiopian residents eligible for healthcare services at American Medical Center in Addis Ababa or affiliated facilities across Ethiopia.
• Upon receiving sponsorship, beneficiaries will be notified of their membership and will need to complete the registration process at American Medical Center. Membership ID cards will be issued upon verification of their details.

Membership Activation

Membership coverage begins 7 working days after payment confirmation. During this period, the beneficiary’s information will be processed, and they will be assigned a personal Primary Care Physician (PCP) for ongoing care and support.

Notifications about membership activation and service eligibility will be sent to the beneficiary via the registered phone number provided by the sponsor.

Scope of Coverage

Primary Care Services:

We provide annual general checkups and continuous follow-ups by a primary care physician. The primary care physician will also provide referrals to specialists when needed. We will also offer access to online health resources and educational material.

Annual General Check-Up:

We provide annual general checkups and continuous follow-ups by a primary care physician. It includes comprehensive physical examination and laboratory examinations. The laboratory and imaging procedures will be in accordance with international guidelines for your age and gender.

Laboratory:

All our in-house laboratory services will be available to you. Wastina doesn’t cover laboratory tests outside of our facility.

Membership Exclusions and Limitations

Exclusions:

Services or treatments not offered at American Medical Center or its authorized affiliated healthcare facilities are excluded.

Pre-existing Conditions:

Pre-existing health conditions will not affect eligibility or coverage.

Frequency and Usage Limits:

There are no restrictions on the frequency of visits to the primary care physician. However, referrals to specialists, laboratory and diagnostic tests, and medications ordered will be at the discretion of the primary care physician, who will adhere to national and international standards.
